Bankruptcy Transcript Copy Orders

The short answer

If a transcript of your hearing has already been produced, you do not pay for new transcription. You order a copy at a lower per-page rate. Our copy order store handles copy orders for bankruptcy transcripts we have produced as an approved court transcriber.

Federal courts restrict access to new transcripts for 90 days, and during that window copies come from the transcriber of record rather than PACER. If we produced the original transcript in your bankruptcy case, ordering your copy from us is the direct route: fast, court-compliant, and cheaper per page than an original.

We recently launched an online store to make bankruptcy transcript copy orders simple. Find your case, place the order, and the PDF comes to your inbox.

How copy orders work

When a transcript is first produced in a federal case, the court's 90-day restriction period applies, and copies during that period are purchased through the transcriber. After the restriction lifts, the transcript becomes available on PACER, but many parties still prefer a clean, certified copy from the source.

Copy rates are set below original rates because the transcription work is already done. You are paying for the certified duplicate, not the production.

Ordering a copy from us

If Access Transcripts produced the original, order through our copy order store with the case name and number. If you are not sure who produced the transcript, check the docket entry for the transcript filing, which names the transcriber, or contact us and we will help you figure it out. If someone else produced it, we will point you in the right direction; if no transcript exists yet, what you need is a new transcript order, and we can handle that too.

Copy orders are also how co-parties save money in active cases. Once one party pays for the original transcript, every other party to the case can purchase copies at the reduced rate rather than commissioning duplicates. In large bankruptcy cases with many appearances, that difference adds up quickly across a docket full of hearings.

FAQ

Questions we hear

Why can't I just download the transcript from PACER?

For the first 90 days after filing, courts restrict transcript access and copies are sold through the transcriber of record. After that, PACER access opens up.

Is a copy cheaper than an original?

Yes, significantly. Copy rates are lower per page because the transcription work already happened.

How fast do copy orders ship?

Electronic copies are fulfilled quickly since the transcript already exists. We will confirm timing when you order.

What if you didn't produce the original?

The docket entry names the transcriber of record, and copies come from them during the restriction period. We are happy to help you read the docket and find the right source.
